The Threshold

115 words, about 1 minute.

The answer to the alignment-as-civilizational-alignment question will not come from governments alone, corporations alone, technologists alone, or spiritual communities alone. It will emerge, if it emerges at all, from coherent coalitions learning to coordinate across domains previously kept separate: science and spirituality, technology and ecology, governance and nervous-system regulation, economics and ethics, AI and human flourishing. Not fused into homogeneity. Brought into right relationship. The work has begun in fragments. Whether those fragments find one another with enough density and speed to matter is the question the next several chapters take up directly—beginning with the question of what civilizations can measure, and therefore what they can be designed to perceive.
