Where We Honestly Begin
357 words, about 2 minutes.
We have described, across this volume, a full architecture — the Currency of Presence, the coherence record, the network that can let relational standing reach the ground of material life. We hold that architecture as a genuine destination. But we must be precise about what is buildable today and what remains a frontier, because conflating the two is how visions lose their credibility.
The frontier — and we named it plainly in the chapters on measurement and sovereignty — is the long-horizon currency: the accumulation of relational standing, over time, into a portable store of value robust enough to be trusted at scale. That problem is real, and it is hard, and it runs directly into one of the deepest unsolved questions in all of technology: how to establish decentralized trust, at scale, in signal that individuals have every incentive to game. We do not claim to have solved it. We claim to have identified the principles from which a solution can be built, and to be committed to building toward it deliberately, in the open, as our understanding and the underlying technology mature.
But here is what is achievable now — immediately, with technology that already exists, delivering profound value from the first day: immediate coherence biofeedback in service of genuine human encounter. Not the accumulation of a lifetime currency, but the simple, powerful act of helping two people, or a small group, perceive in the moment the quality of the presence they are building between them. This is buildable today. It requires no unsolved breakthrough in decentralized trust, because nothing is being accumulated and nothing is being stored as currency — the value is delivered in the encounter itself and the signal need not outlive it. And its natural home is precisely the setting where presence matters most and where people gather with the explicit intention of genuine connection: the retreat, the gathering, the held space.
We begin not with the lifetime currency, which is a frontier, but with the gift of immediate coherence in shared presence, which is achievable today — and which delivers, from the first encounter, value that no one who experiences it will easily live without.
