The Long View
224 words, about 2 minutes.
The third principle is the long view. Purposeful holds its work to a horizon measured not in weeks but in years, and names that horizon in two figures. The Four Chapters describe the broad movements of the arc — from the awakening of the individual, through the gathering of coherent community, toward the restoration of culture and at last of the biosphere itself. The Twelve-Year Trajectory sets that arc in time: a generational horizon for the maturation of a Body of Worship from a single practitioner into a network of councils. To name these is not to schedule them; it is to declare that the work intends endurance, and that the care it offers is not the enthusiasm of a season but the patience of a generation. A community tended this way is built to outlast the people who begin it — which is, in the end, the only kind of community worth building.
*Within the Coherence Thesis. *the community is coherence made to endure — the structures by which what a person becomes is held, extended, and carried past any single life, so that coherence accrues across generations instead of dissolving with each one. Mentors to carry the work, a curriculum to sequence it, retreats to embody it, and a community to hold it: together, these are how a thesis becomes a way of life.
