The plain point: there are real ways this fails, including badly, and we name them without flinching — because the alternative is not safety, it is a worse failure we have already chosen by default. — The Cardinal Scale nearly came apart in its fourth year. What saved it was that it had named that exact failure in advance and built the repair before it was needed. Risk faced early is risk survived; risk denied is risk that wins.

Toward the coherent substrate. Extraction hides its failures; that is part of how it endures. Naming our own failure modes plainly is itself an anti-extractive act. And the wager is sober: the risk of trying is real, but the extractive default is not a safe alternative — it is the failure we have already chosen, unless we move.
