Human Capacity Is Not a Resource Deposit

Beneath all of this is the most human element of all, and the simplest. The greatest untapped resource on this planet is not under any seabed or in any mineral seam. It is human potential, the vast and mostly dormant capacity of ordinary people to perceive, to relate, to create, and to coordinate at levels far beyond what our present arrangements ask of them. That potential is precisely what we are studying. Every other resource we have learned to extract is finite and depleting. This one is generative and, so far as we can tell, inexhaustible, and almost wholly unworked. The Praxis of Presencing Genius is, at bottom, a discipline for the cultivation of that single resource.

We use the word resource here against its own grain, and the risk in it should be said plainly. A capacity described as a deposit invites the very logic this volume opposes. Nothing here licenses the mining of a person. What the praxis cultivates belongs to the person who carries it.
