The Gathering

Teaching, Training, and the Mentors of Presence
No text has ever made anyone present. A book may point, may map, may issue an invitation — and this one does — but the faculties at the heart of this work are transmitted, when they are transmitted at all, from one living person to another. Presence is caught more than it is taught; presencing is learned in the company of someone already able to do it. And so the first practical labor of the seventh volume is not the writing of a curriculum but the gathering of those who can carry it: the mentors of presence.
